Gelli Prints
WHAT IS GELLI PRINTING?
Gelli Plate printing is a process that produces a one of a kind print. The printmaker can use various water based media (paints and markers) with stencils, and printed ink sheet transfers in layers on top of the Silicon printing plate to create the artist’s unique image. The “pull” is a one of a kind print.
In addition, the print can be re-worked by the artist with paints, pencils, inks, charcoles, etc.
If an ” image ” is being used as a transfer, the end image must reflect the artist’s intent to avoid Plagiarism. Many times magazine images are used in the transfer process but the artist must pay attention to copyrights. Editing an image to avoid copyright infringement requires a significant degree of transformation and originality.
This Artist creates one of a kind imaginary images.
